Subject: update on Colorado Task Force
Colorado E-recording Task Force
The Colorado E-recording Task Force has had 2 meetings, the second of which included representatives from the private sector, according to Carole Murray, Douglas County Clerk and Recorder. The group broke into 3 subcommittees to create action plans in the following areas: Technology and Data Transfer Standards; Indexing Standards; and Legal Issues. They hope to finish the action plans from these three subcommittees by August, with reliance on information supplied through NACRC.
They scheduled a May visit to the Maricopa County Recorder's office in order to see first-hand how that office is performing electronic transactions. In conjunction with their June meeting, they will invite vendors with expertise in e-recording to do presentations as an educational exercise.
After attending several NACRC meetings, Carole opened the second meeting by presenting some "guiding expectations" for the group: LAWGO (Learning as We Go); PAIN (easy to figure out) and SOH (Sense of Humor). "I gleaned this idea after talking to NACRC members from states who had already begun this process," Carole said. "We may as well say it out loud that this is not an easy process."
